Why is the skin on the palms of my hands peeling?

me (49 male), got strep throat from15 year old niece, after she drank out my Gaterade bottle, on antibiotics for 10 days, her too, she noticed palm skin peeling after antibiotics gone, then a couple of days later my whole right hand thumb peeled, no pain, noticed left hand fingers peeling a day later, now right hand palm is starting to peel, it looks like when you spend all day in the pool, neither of us have been swimming... just strange how I would get her strep and now this peeling, we used different antibiotics... I then caught a bad cold and couldn't talk, now she as it... what's next????

Why is the skin on the palms of my hands peeling?
The peeling is a allergic reaction to the antibiotics that were given to you and ur niece even though they were different. I am sure you both were given a type of penicilin capsule such as amoxicilin. Anyway if u see that the problem gets worse or ur symptoms are getting worse with a cold that u just got I would see ur doctor again. Make sure you two don't share the same food and drink and PLEASE make sure you two wash ur hands frequently since this is the #1 way the germs are spread from one person to the other
Reply:Could be a lack of B vitamins. I used to have this problem really bad and solved it with a simple multi-vitamin. Also drink lots of water.
Reply:might not be anything to do with pills, things you touch can do this as well, wool, cement if you work with chemicals go to the Drs and ask if it was the pills, but usually is to do with something you have touched. Hand cream not perfumed would help or vasalean as a quick fix
Reply:it could be athlete's foot--yes! athletes foot on your hands... this is only likely if you have it on your feet first and touch your feet occasionally, perhaps when you are applying medicine for your feet.

If it gets worse you may want to see the doctor again...GOOD LUCK!!
